Multimodal transportation of a 40-foot container from Vietnam to Kyrgyzstan

Fast “sea + auto” delivery of beverages in 14 days

When it’s important to combine speed, control, and cost-effectiveness

Lazarus Forwarding organized a multimodal shipment of a 40-foot container with beverages from Vietnam to Kyrgyzstan.
The project included purchasing the container in Vietnam, loading it, sea delivery to Kazakhstan, and a subsequent road transport leg to Bishkek, followed by the sale of the container at the final destination.

The main emphasis was on the speed and transparency of the logistics process — the beverages needed to be delivered within strict deadlines without loss of quality, while maintaining the cost-effectiveness of the entire chain.

Route Geography

The route covered over 8,000 kilometers and followed this scheme:
Vietnam (Ho Chi Minh Port) → China → Kazakhstan (Khorgos border crossing) → Kyrgyzstan (Bishkek).

The shipment was carried out using multimodal logistics — combining sea and road transport.
The sea leg provided a favorable rate and transport security, while road delivery allowed reducing the total transit time to 14 days.

Stage 1. Preparation and purchase of the container

A 40-foot container was purchased in Vietnam for the client, which reduced costs for rent and customs clearance.
The Lazarus team ensured:

  • selection and technical inspection of the container (condition, tightness, ISO standard compliance);
  • preparation of export documents and certificates of origin;
  • preparation of cargo packing, taking into account temperature requirements and securing;
  • insurance for the cargo and carrier liability.

The container was marked and sealed according to international standards, which eliminated the risk of substitution or damage during transshipment.

Stage 2. Sea freight: Vietnam → China

The sea leg of the route went from Ho Chi Minh Port to the Chinese port of Lianyungang.
The vessel sailed on a regular line, which minimized transit time.

At this stage, Lazarus specialists conducted constant monitoring of the container’s position through the Lazarus Secure Route™ Marine system:

  • 24/7 GPS tracking of the vessel;
  • daily reports to the client;
  • monitoring of weather and port schedules.

The client could check the shipment status at any time via an online panel and receive confirmation of the container’s arrival at the port.

Stage 3. Transit and road transport: China → Kazakhstan → Kyrgyzstan

After arriving in China, the container was transloaded onto a truck platform, passed through customs in the transit corridor, and headed towards Central Asia via the Khorgos border crossing.

On the leg from Kazakhstan to Bishkek, transport was conducted by road, which avoided delays at railway stations and sped up delivery.

Satellite monitoring and photo reporting were active throughout the journey.
The Lazarus dispatch center monitored daily:

  • border crossings;
  • arrival times at checkpoints;
  • the container’s condition and temperature (to preserve the quality of the beverages).

Stage 4. Delivery and sale of the container in Bishkek

Secure fastening of cargo (beverages) in a 40-foot container with a special net. Preparation for multimodal transport from Vietnam to Kyrgyzstan.

14 days after starting in Vietnam, the container arrived in Bishkek.
Unloading was carried out under the supervision of Lazarus specialists, after which the container was sold to a local partner of the client, which helped to optimize logistics costs and eliminate an empty return trip.

The entire shipment of beverages arrived in perfect condition and without delays.

Quality control and transparency at every stage

Lazarus Forwarding applied its proprietary Lazarus Secure Route™ system, which provides full control over multimodal shipments:

  • satellite tracking on sea and road legs;
  • automatic notifications to the client;
  • daily reports on cargo status;
  • photo documentation of the container during loading, transit, and unloading;
  • insurance coverage for the entire journey.

This format allowed the client to track the container’s entire journey — from the factory in Vietnam to the warehouse in Bishkek without any data gaps.

Project Results

  • Delivery time: 14 days (including sea and road transport legs).
  • 100% cargo safety, confirmed by photo and insurance reports.
  • Container sold at the destination, which reduced logistics costs.
  • No downtime or delays along the entire route.

The beverages arrived in Bishkek on time and without any damage, allowing the client to begin product distribution immediately upon arrival.
